Baruk Khazâd!

I am heading back to Aglarond. My father is very ill. I have said my goodbyes to him, and I hope this was not the final goodbye, however I must get back to my own kingdom. My heart is broken once again.

Never in a thousand years did I think I’d have a kingdom to call my own!

Word has got to me that there have been some new dwarves who have arrived at Aglarond from other places; I’m excited to meet the new arrivals!

Yep.

Yep.

Oh no! I’m sure your father will pull through; why, Dwarves are so stout-hearted I can’t imagine him doing otherwise!

There comes a time for everyone to die, master hobbit.

After a much needed rest I am feeling hopeful and rejuvinated- not as morose as I was at Yuletide! Tomorrow I will have audience with King Thorin about gathering more dwarves to Aglarond and building a steady trade route to there!

I wish all of my companions much peace, happiness and prosperity for the new year ahead!

On a less happier note; my father is very, very ill. It’s no looking good.

N-no, not at all, mellon.

My dear Haldir, from your halting, I am sure there is something you wish to tell me?

Gimli, my sweet dwarf, I would gladly kiss you under the mistletoe.

I…. I…. *blush* thank you!

I fear that I am getting too old to have a family

It’s too late to find a companion, I fear.

Maybe I shuld just agree that this way was not for me. I have friends… however I would like to, for once, be not seen ‘the other’.

Yuletide festivities are gearing up and there shall be many parties and feasts to attend in Erebor, which of course will include all of the city. I know I am much too mature to be hopeful about metting someone at a party of all places- it seems like a throwback to my teenage years- but there is hope, after all. There are many dwarves whom have moved here recently to bolster Erebor’s forces for the War and who have settled or who chose to seek out a new home and travel abroad now that peace has been restored (somewhat), and many who will stay with family in Erebor for Yule. At the least, I’ll have to seek out a dance (or perhaps a mistletoe kiss?) with someone!

Ugh, such fancies are not becoming of a dwarf. I’ve spent far too much time being around elves and their tangled and dramatic love-lives.

However, all the festivities would give me a chance to show off my newly bought wedding outfit in perhaps a more merrier circumstance!

Gimli was exhausted from shopping; truly, he didn’t know how tiring it could be. He had wandered around Dale for hours deciding how to go about the task of choosing what he would wear; he really didn’t have a clue on which colours to choose, or what jewellery would compliment it, or if he needed…

Son,

I don’t know what to say. I apologise if I have been acting a little odd of late, I’ve been having trouble with your mother and such. Your tale has brought forth a few tears, which has not happened in a long time, I tell you. But, know this - you have the full support of your mother and I. Also know that we are both incredibly proud of you, and are happy that you are home. Again, I apologise for perhaps upsetting you with my actions. Along with the trouble at home, I’m also starting to get tired often, and I can feel myself getting weaker with age. Please, come and talk to us if there is anything that you need. Or, if I’m not around, you should confront Óin about it. I’m sure he can offer you a wise word or two.

Your loving father,
Glóin

Ah, hearing you are having troubles with mother makes me anxious… however I will try not to dwell on it. But thank you, both, for your love. Things have been quite quiet of late and I am trying not to think of the world outside of Erebor, yet soon I fear it may be time for me to return home, perhaps with a few new dwarves who will move into the colony at Aglarond, if my Lord permit it. I wish to spend Yuletide here at least!

I’m concerned about your ill health father, are you sure you don’t want me to go to the healer for you and get you something? The winter sicknesses are spreading and I wouldn’t want you to catch anything in your old age.

“Fangorn? What madness drove them in there?”

peregrint:

REALLY. REALLY, GIMLI?

DID YOU NOT REMEMBER THAT THEY WERE KIDNAPPED BY URUK HAI AND THAT THERE WAS A BLOOD BATH GOING ON BETWEEN THEM AND THE RIDERS OF ROHAN?

JESUS, GIMLI!

Um- excuse me if I did not realise the gravity of the situation straight away. You see I had been running for DAYS on end chasing an elf and a sweaty man through some fields, I wasn’t exactly on top of my game.
